Urabá each time closer

Two events impacted Urabá in regards to major construction work, first it was the confirmation of the construction of the 4G road between Medellín and Urabá (known as Mar 1) for 2.2 billion pesos.

The area occupied by the project will be 12 municipalities and the metropolitan area of Medellín.  

It is estimated that in 2023 and 2024 the road connection that connects Mar 1 and Mar with the tunnels of the West and in the Toyo will be operational, which will transform a trip from 7 hours to4 hours, generating savings in fuel, road safety and costs of automotive maintenance.

The partners in the project are the Austrian construction company “Stabag” with 37,5%, the Spanish company “Sacyr” which additionally has Sacyre Concesiones Participadas with 37,5% and the Colombian company “Concay SA” with 25%

Additionally, the National Government signed the concession contract for the construction of a port on the Caribbean Sea in Antioquia, which plans to mobilize 6,6 million tons of cargo goods annually according to official sources.

It has an investment of 300 million dollars for the construction of the infrastructure. It will consist of a quay with five berths, a double carriageway viaduct for trucks that will pass between the platform and the port.

According to the vice president, Marta Lucía Ramírez this work will optimize the port development of the country additionally commented that within this project there is significant income for 30 years and a generation with at least 6000 jobs.
